Like an Easter Egg hidden at the corner of Hong Kong, the ravishing beach isn’t only the campsite, but also the perfect retreat for meditation. If you’re fond of the serenity of nature, Long Ke Wan shouldn’t be missed.

The sand softer than anywhere

Solitarily situated in the south-eastward coastline and surrounded by the mountains, the far-flung beach is impossible to reach by any vehicles. Despite its inaccessibility, its natural attractions have glued lots of campers’ eyes – soft, white sandy beach as well as cerulean ocean resemble the paradise on earth.

Many years ago, there was a village in Long Ke where 100 people resided, though the only house left now is the drug rehabilitation center. People can gaze the starry sky or swim in the crystal-clear water. In the broad expanse of beach you can do anything you like – volleyball, dodgeball, flying disc, meditation, you name it.

A Friendly reminder: Leave No Trace

Basic facilities are included, especially water point for use of drinking and cooking. Although there’re some bins, you’re advised to “leave no trace”, lest litters may pile and stink as cleaning staff seldom go to the remote area.

Direction to Long Ke Wan:

High Island Reservoir East Dam is your starting point. You should first take the Kwun Tong Line to Choi Hung Station and head to exit C2, then take the minibus 1A that costs 9.7HKD and half an hour to Sai Kung. Grab a taxi to East Dam. The trail to Long Ke Wan is mostly flat, taking 30-minute to walk.
Instead of going to beach, it’s also worthwhile to hike a bit. You can check that out from the article “MacLehose Trail Stage 2” (Link), which indicates the path.
